I am looking at purchasing a new gun for one of my boys. Does anyone know about the Wells R17 M4. I am looking at purchasing it from airsplat.com. Pros or cons?

Well Mr. Jay, how much dedication is your boy going to put into the sport? If this is something he really wants to pursue, a Well definitely falls close to the bottom of my list of to-buys. A straight up good beginner gun would be a JG, Dboys, or CYMA. Yes, a little more pricey, but you really get what you pay for :)

I bought a well mp7 and it broke on me the first day I used it. It was a while ago, but after that I vowed I would never buy another well. My advice is avoid well at all costs! Get em some dboys, or cyma. I'm starting to love dboys, but that is just because im badass :p.

I recommend an echo1 gun. Little more expensive then JG and Dboys.
But they never break.
But you kinda want a cheap gun for you kids.
So you can teach them gun safety, cleaning it out, and ect.
And there going to break or change out of it FAST! So try not
to spend to much on it. :)

I have seen some decent Well guns over the years, the R8 wasn't a bad piece, and their newest GBB MP5K is a lovely piece of kit, for the price the R17 may not be a bad starter piece, not out a whole lot if something goes totally haywire when they are using it.

except for my motor plate hold down screws stripped right out and left my motor hangin by the cords. if you buy anything v2, get something with metal thread inserts.

You've got two good legs, get up and use them. You're strong enough to walk your own path.

This echo1 scar I have had stripped out holes for the screws holding in the motor plate. It's only a matter of time until it happens, when they use machine screws threaded into a nonmetal grip. I threaded coarse screws in, and those things will never strip out now.
I've come to see that there aren't very many things on these guns that you can't fix. The real question is what is worth fixing, and how much it will cost to fix until you realize it would have been better to spend more to begin with.
